When the Amount of Light Decreases

09/09/2026

I haven't written my thoughts here for a long time. Summer has passed and autumn has arrived, the evenings are growing darker, and the amount of daylight is less than it was a few months ago. I notice that my gaze, too, turns inward.

I love the darkening autumn evenings when it rains outside, and really pours, when the drops patter against the tin roof and the wind reminds you of its presence, foreshadowing winter's arrival; thankfully still a few months away. It makes you want to curl up inside under a warm blanket, light a candle, maybe even have a crackling fire in the wood stove, and enjoy evening tea with honey and a good book.

I understand that I am truly privileged. Out in the world, the wind blows and the amount of light decreases.

Now, if ever, it's important to believe in your own influence within your own small life. All the ways we meet others and treat others, drops form the sea, and the world is Us. It feels so pointless to say anything more.

Through my art, I want to be a bearer of Light .

Take care, wherever you may be!

Warmest regards,
Hanna
