I look towards Feminist Statements Art exhibition opens on September 16, 2025 at Gallery Räyhä.

Hello! Thank you for being here. I warmly invite you to visit my art exhibition I look towards Feminist Statements, opening on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at Gallery Räyhä in Turku.
The past month has been full of work, and now everything is ready for the exhibition. Over the past six months, I've painted eleven small oil paintings on wood, telling stories of women and girls of different ages from childhood to old age.
All paintings, except one, have now received a protective varnish layer. Each piece is signed on the back, the edges are carefully painted, and they are ready to hang, though not framed. The wooden panels are made of thick, durable Finnish birch plywood, sanded and primed twice with gesso. I've also used the sgraffito technique. The oil paints are high-quality, professional-grade.
Here's a brief list of the works:
1. So Much to Carry A painting about responsibility, adulthood, the hectic middle years, heavy moments in life, and value-based choices.
2. I Set Out My Finest Coffee Cups A painting about the everyday life of an elderly person living alone with memory loss, loneliness and the hope that someone will come visit.
3. Yesterday is Today is Tomorrow A painting about a young woman's anxiety and worry, seeking peace through self-compassion and calm. Everything will be okay.
4. Because of the Missing Star Branch A painting about racism, prejudice, and artificial standards that restrict equality and diminish human dignity. This girl refuses to be discouraged or to give up.
5. When Everything Changed A painting about life's turning points, the courage to pause and live authentically, boldly, proudly, and without prejudice, pursuing one's dreams despite challenges.
6. Never Again A painting about the courage to leave behind fear and all forms of violence, to break free and learn to love oneself. Setting boundaries and daring to walk away despite fear.
7. Compassionate Whispers A painting about releasing inner harshness and learning a gentler, more compassionate attitude toward oneself.
8. It Wasn't Easy to Climb My Mountain A painting about life's light and shadow, health and illness, success and struggle. About peace of mind, meditation, strength, courage, hope. And love.
9. Today A painting about the decision to be at peace with one's mind, body, and soul today. To accept oneself as is. To act in alignment with one's values. Safe freedom. Silence amid the noise of the world. Loyalty to one's own decision.
10. I Was Afraid to Be Brave Because I Was Always So Good Girl A painting from a child's perspective about adult expectations, roles, and duties. The "Good Girl" does as she's told. Doesn't question. Doesn't voice disagreement. Doesn't rebel. She complies, serves, stays in the background, and only responds when asked. She doesn't cause trouble.
11. I Think I'm 11 Years Old. My Name Is Maya. But I Don't Know Where My Family Is. A painting about the genocide in Gaza. The girl is like a fragile porcelain doll. Her gaze is empty amid trauma, yet she still looks straight ahead; at us. At you and me. Where were we, and what did we do when all this happened?
Each buyer will receive a certificate of authenticity signed by me via email. Each painting is priced at 390 €. Works can be collected from Gallery Räyhä after the exhibition ends, by agreement. No advance reservations.
Come and see. Come and share your thoughts. Come and take part.
With gratitude and respect, warm regards, Hanna ❤️
